What we do
Each video, called a Case File, follows a fictional couple, Linda and Tom, through one real decision: when to claim Social Security, whether to pay off the mortgage, whether to convert a 401(k) to a Roth. We test every option, show what each one does, and finish with a clear verdict for that couple's facts. Then we give you a free tool so you can test your own numbers.
What we do not do
- We do not manage money, sell investments or take commissions.
- We do not give personal advice. We show how the rules work and what the numbers say.
- We do not tell you what to do with your own money. A verdict is for Linda's facts only.
How we keep the numbers honest
Every figure is checked against a primary source such as the IRS, the Social Security Administration or Medicare. Each calculation is recomputed independently before a video is published. We list what each model leaves out, and we never claim a number is perfect. The full method is on the sources and methods page.
How this channel is made
We say this plainly: the narration is a synthetic voice, the illustrations are made with AI tools, and the characters are fictional. The research, the numbers and the checks are the work. See more on how this is made.
How the site is paid for
Today, nothing on this site is sold, and there are no ads or sponsors on it. If that ever changes, for example with ads, a sponsor, an affiliate link or a paid tool, we will mark it clearly on the page where it appears and explain it on the disclosure page. Sponsors never get to change a verdict.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, we want to fix it, and we will say what changed. Tax and benefit rules change every year, so every page shows when it was last reviewed. Use the contact method on the legal page once one is listed, or leave a comment on the video.
