Not advice
Honest Cents is for education and general information only. It is not financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional who knows your whole situation. Honest Cents is not a registered investment adviser, broker, tax preparer or law firm. Case Files show verdicts for fictional people's facts, not yours. Rules change, and calculators simplify. Check anything important with a qualified professional before you act. You are responsible for your own decisions.
Accuracy
We work hard to be accurate and show our sources, but we cannot guarantee that every figure is complete or current on the day you read it. See sources and methods.
Sponsorship, affiliate and advertising disclosure
At the time of writing, this site has no advertising, no sponsors and no affiliate links, and nothing on it is for sale. If that changes, we will follow these rules:
- Any paid tool, sponsored mention, affiliate link or ad will be clearly labelled on the page where it appears, in plain words near the item, not only here.
- We will say when we earn money if you click or buy.
- A sponsor or partner never gets to change a verdict, a number or a conclusion.
- We will list partners on this page.
How this is made
The video narration is a synthetic (AI-generated) voice. The illustrations are made with AI tools. Linda, Tom, Denise and the other people in the Case Files are fictional, and any resemblance to real people is coincidence. The research, numbers and writing are checked by a person against official sources.
Privacy
- No accounts, no cookies, no analytics. This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
- Calculators run on your device. What you type into a tool stays in your browser. We never receive it.
- Your preferences. If you change the text size or colors, your browser may remember that choice on your own device. It is not sent to us.
- YouTube. Video thumbnails may be loaded from YouTube's image servers. A video itself loads only after you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. After that, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
- Hosting. Like any website, the company that hosts this site may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and operation.
- Links to other sites are governed by those sites' policies.
